What is a MIDI File?

A MIDI file is a digital musical score that contains the exact information of Jacob’s performances, i.e., what notes are played, the velocity, and tempo. This allows you to show the performance in visualization software or make your digital or self-playing piano perfectly replicate Jacob’s performance. It is not audio or sheet music, so MIDI-compatible devices or software are required to use this file.

3 Ways to use MIDI Files

1 Learn Using Visualizer.

If you want to learn how to play a song, a MIDI file gives the unique chance to do that using a visualizer such as Synthesia on all devices (desktop, tablet, mobile). You simply load the MIDI file and the visualizer shows you what to play. For most visualizers you can easily pause, speed up/down, and so on to help you learn at your own pace.

2 Listen to live performances.

You can load this MIDI file on your piano and get the feeling of Jacob’s Piano performing live in your living room. A MIDI file can be loaded on a digital piano or an acoustic self-playing piano such as Yamaha Disklavier or Steinway Spirio. Regular acoustic pianos do not support the use of MIDI files.

3 Music Production.

If you are a music producer, you can use my MIDI files to load in your DAW and create your own recordings. Bear in mind, that any new recordings generated by the use of my MIDI files may under no circumstances be publicly released. It is strictly for private purposes.
